EXPAND LOCAL INFANT MENTAL HEALTH EXPERTISE IN THE PARTICIPATING PARISHES


STRATEGIES:

  • Non-medical professionals will become skilled in the screening, assessment and treatment of at-risk young children ages 0 through 5 years and their families.

  • Participant families will receive less intensive Infant Mental Health training adapted to their specific needs.

  • Pre-K Teachers will receive less intensive Infant Mental Health training adapted to their specific needs.

  • ECSS Program staff will receive intensive training, consultation and technical assistance in the Infant Mental Health.

  • Community agency and service provider staffs receive modified (less intensive) training, consultation and technical assistance.

OUTCOMES:

  • Increased capacity to apply current infant mental health and early childhood knowledge, research and best practices in interventions to high-risk families.

  • Sixteen (16) non-medical professionals, fifty (50) families, twelve (12) Pre-K teachers will receive varying levels of training in the first fiscal year of program operation.

  • Approximately one hundred eighty five (185) families or individuals will receive referrals, assessments and treatment for Infant Mental Health service.
