HELP CHILDREN PARTICIPATING IN THE ECSS PROGRAM TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES OR THE HOME OF THEIR RELATIVES

STRATEGIES:

  • Screen and identify victims of domestics violence through collaboration with the Office of Women's Services and Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (LCADV).  The involvement of these entities is dependent upon their ability to provide service in the identified parishes.

  • Collaborate with the Child Welfare Agency.

  • Develop safety and services plans.

  • Identify and serve children in needy families who are at risk of abuse or neglect (e.g., family counseling, vocational and educational counseling, and counseling directed at specific problems such as developmentally disabled needs).

  • Screen families who have been sanctioned under TANF for risk of child abuse or neglect and provide case management services designed to eliminate barriers to compliance.

  • Provide Emergency Intervention Funds (non-recurrent, short-term intervention to deal with an individual crisis situation), when network resources are insufficient, for appropriate supportive services to caregiver relatives who can provide a safe place for a needy child to live an avoid his or her placement in foster care.

OUTCOMES:

  • On thousand fifty (1050) screenings.

  • Three hundred seventy (370) service plans developed and implemented.

  • One hundred eighty five (185) families or individuals received infant mental health referrals, assessments and treatment.
